Dandy Randy

Randy is our Week #4 champion!

Randy and Tim got it all-in preflop with Randy holding A-4 to Tim's A-3. Tim managed to pair his three on the 8c-5d-3c flop, but a 2d on the turn gave Randy the wheel and the winner. Tim could still draw to a chope, but the 6s on the river sent the pot and the title Randy's way.

Final Table Results:

1 - Randy
2 - Tim
3 - Kevin R
4 - Patrick K
5 - Joe D
6 - Rachel
7 - Chad
8 - Brandy
9 - Allison
10 - Chris J

Tim Doubles

A lil all-in preflop action with Randy holding Kd2d to Tim's Jd10h. The board ran out Qc-Js-4c-6d-4h to pair Tim's jack and double him up to 18K.

Baconator Takes 3rd

Kevin completed his small blind and Randy checked his option in the big. The flop came As-3c-3d and Kevin checked. Randy bet 8K and Kevin quickly moved all-in. Randy called and showed A-4, which was ahead of Kevin's pocket eights. The turn and river came 6s 3h and Randy made threes full of aces to eliminated the Baconator in 3rd.

Blinds Up!

Good God! 2K/4K??!!???

Randy Doubles

Tim limped on the button, Kevin completed the small blind and Randy moved all-in for 11.5K more. Tim called, Kevin folded and the hands were turned up. Tim's A-9 had the advantage over Randy's A-6. The flop was an innocuous Qs-5s-3c, but a 6c on the turn put Randy in the lead. The Ah on the river added insult to injury and Randy doubled to 25K or so. Tim dropped to 28K.

Family Pot

Tim limped in on the button, Kevin completed the small blind, and Randy checked his option. Everyone checked the Kd-8s-2d flop. The black nine on the turn prompted Kevin to min bet and both Randy and Tim called. The 10 on the river prompted checks from Kevin and Randy and Tim's 4K river bet was enough to take down the 18K pot.

Tim Takes One

Tim min-raised the button and Randy called in the big blind. On a Jd-10c-2s flop Randy took the lead in the hand and bet 6K. Tim called, leaving only 5K behind. The turn was the 8c and Randy checked. Tim moved all-in and Randy....folded. I know. Tim showed the 8d for....a turned second pair.

Maybe I don't know as much about poker as I think.

Oh Money Bubble, I Thought You'd Never Come!

We had a 3-way all-in with an absolutely desperate Patrick and Joe facing the "big" stack, Tim. Here were the hands:

Joe - 4d8h
Patrick - Qs7d
Tim - Ac7s

The board ran out Ad-9s-6d-Jh-7c and Tim's two pair was good enough to eliminate both players and take us to the money. Here are the payouts btw:

1 - $235
2 - $140
3 - $40

Finally Some Progress!

Joe moved all-in and Randy moved all-in for slightly less behind him. Joe held AQ to Randy's AK and Randy's hand held up once again to leave Joe with a mere 3.5K in chips.

Come On Kids!

Randy just completed the small blind with A-8 and Patrick, who had only 9.5K total. They checked it down and ace high (as we all suspected) was good.

Sigh

Somehow hands are being checked down to the river. Yo. No. Comprendo.

Tim - 19K
Joe - 9.5K
Randy - 19K
Patrick - 11K
Kevin - 23.5K

We're back from break!

Players On Break

The remaining fellas have taken a short break. When they return blinds are going to be an absolutely obscene 1.5K/3K with FIVE players still remaining. This is far and away the least amount of play we've had at the Monday final table. Yet, people just keep folding. It's the game that never ends, yes it goes on and on my friends.

Patrick Doubles Up

Down to his last 6K Patrick moved all-in from under the gun and Randy called in the big blind. Patrick's A-8 held up against Randy's J-8 and he has 13K in fightin' chips.

Tim Doubles Up

Tim moved all-in from under the gun for his last 6K and Randy called in the small blind. Randy had the best of it going in with his AsQs, but Tim's K-10 managed to outflop him as the board ran out Kh-10h-6h-5d-5h. Neither player had a heart, so Tim's two pair was good enough to take down the pot and double him up.

Players Folded, I Colored the Table Up

While FoldFest 09 continues, here are some updated chip counts:

Randy - 27K
Kevin R - 24K
Patrick K - 18K
Joe D - 7.5K
Tim - 6K

Keep in mind the biggest stack has 13.5 bbs and the all-ins so far have been few and far between.

Blinds Up!

How are we five-handed with the blinds at 1K/2K?!?

Ahoy Shipwreck

Patrick's 4K raises from the blind seem to be working well for him. He keeps picking up the blinds uncontested.

Randy Continues His Ascent

Randy raised to 4.2K total from under the gun and Joe D called from the small blind. The flop came Jh-8h-3s and Joe check-folded to Randy's 4.2K flop bet. Randy showed Ah-Kh. Not too shabby.

Blinds Up!

700/1400.

It is times like these that I really miss 600/1200.

Tim At it Again

In a blind versus blind confrontation Patrick "Shipwreck" K raised to 3K from the small blind and Tim called from the big. The flop came Qd-6h-2h and Patrick again bet 3K. Tim moved all-in for 3.3K more and Patrick thought a minute or so before folding his pocket fives. Tim flashed a queen before he tossed his hand in the muck.

Patrick is down to 7.7K while Tim is up to 18K or so.

Tim Triples

Is it me or does Tim somehow triple up every week?

Rachel moved all-in for her last 5.9K, Tim moved all-in for 3.2K behind her and then Kevin re-raised all-in from the small blind. Here are the hands:

Baconator: KdKs
Rachel: Qh6c
Tim: 7c7s

The board ran out 10d-7d-3c-3d-Ad and Tim managed to make a full house to best Kevin's king-high flush. Rachel was eliminated in 6th place and Tim triples up to 10K or so.

Chippies!

Chip Counts:
Randy - 18.5K
Joe D - 18.3K
Kevin "Baconator" R - 17K
Patrick "Shipwreck" K - 14.7K
Tim - 6.3K
Rachel - 6K

Confrontation #3 - Chad Hard with a Vengeance

Randy and Chad continued their tete a tete when Chad moved all-in from the cutoff for his last 4.8K. Randy called from the button and everyone else folded. Chad held As-5s, which, as we all expected, was behind Randy's pocket tens. The board ran out 8d-2h-2s-6h-3s and Chad was eliminated in 7th place.

Randy Defibberizes Chad

Chad raised to 4K from under the gun and Randy moved all-in for 2K more right behind him.

"I got caught," Chad said as he put out the extra chips to call. He turned over Jd7d which was behind Randy's A-K. The Ah-2h-2d flop put Randy in the lead. The 7s on the turn gave Chad a whopping two outs with one card to come. No seven on the river and Randy doubles up once again.

Chad Snubs Math Again to Double Randy Up

It folded around to Chad who completed the small blind. Randy (pictured) moved all-in from the big blind for 2K more.

"I call," Chad said. "It's a dumb call, but I call."

It was pretty dumb. Chad had Q-4os while the man who has played all of 2 hands this entire final table held pocket sevens. The sevens held and Randy doubled up to 6K or so.
After the hand Chad explained his thought process:
"If I didn't have a queen I wouldn't have called."

Joltin' Joe D

Tim limped in late position, Joe D (pictured) raised to 2K, and Kevin "Baconation" R moved all-in. Joe quickly said "call", forgetting that Tim and Chad still needed to act. As his action indicated, Joe held aces, which had Kevin's jacks in bad shape. The board ran out Q-7-2-7-3 and Joe doubled up to around 14K. Kevin dropped to 9.1K.

Math Still Considered Overrated in the Bluegrass State

In a discussion about the QQ vs. AQ hand I mentioned in passing that with such short stacks I was surprised they didn't just get it all-in preflop and that, "the hands really played themselves."

"You'd call my all-in preflop?" asked Chad.

"Well, if I have 18 big blinds, I am pretty much reraising all-in their most every time."

"Really?"

"Well, I think the math kind of dictates it."

"Do you always play by the math?" Chad asked, seeming confused and concerned.

"Only when I know it," I responded.

Shipwreck v. Chad--The Rematch

(Blinds are now 400/800)

Patrick "Shipwreck" K raised to 1.8K from under the gun and Chad called from the button. Both players checked the Qc-5s-2s flop. The 10h on the turn prompted Patrick to bet 2K, which Chad quickly called. The river was the Jh and both players checked.

"I have a jack," Chad said, flipping up A-J for a busted gut shot w/ an overcard that turned into a pair of jacks.

Patrick showed K-Q for top pair and scooped the pot.

Coolers Abound!

Chad raised to 1.8K from under the gun, Patrick "Shipwreck" K. called from the cutoff, and Joe D called from the small blind. The flop came Qh-6h-2c and it checked to Patrick who bet 2.3K. Joe D folded and Chad moved all-in for 4.4K more. Patrick called with his Ad-Qc for top pair, ace kicker, but it was way behind Chad's set of queens. The turn and river came running fours and Chad's queens full doubled him up.

Girls Losing Power

Brandy was all-in for her last 1,100 with As-5s. Rachel made the obligatory call from teh big blind with 2-6 os and managed to spike a six to eliminate Brandy in 8th.

Brandy seemed annoyed by the call, but we tried to explain that if Rachel folded any two cards there we would tell her she played worse than Jeremy.

Blinds...

...have been 300/600 for a while.

Allison All-In, Son!

Allison (pictured) moved all-in under the gun for her last 2.1K and it folded around to Chad in the big blind, who called with A-8. It had Allison's A-6 in bad shape, but she managed to catch a six on the turn to pair up and take the pot.
The very next hand Kevin "The Baconator" R raised the button

and Allison reraised all-in. Kevin called with A-K which were in a race against Allison's tens. The flop put Kevin in the lead after it came Kc-Qc-6h and the 8s on the turn and 4c were no help to Allison. She was eliminated in 9th place.

Chippies!

Here are seats and Chip Counts:

Seat 1: Kevin "The Baconator" R - 14.9K
Seat 2: Chad - 9K
Seat 3: Allison - 2.9K
Seat 4: Randy - 4.2K
Seat 5: Rachel - 5.2K
Seat 6: Patrick "Shipwreck" K - 16K
Seat 8: Brandy - 2.4K
Seat 9: Tim - 13K
Seat 10: Joe D - 9.8K

Tim Puts the Nail in Chris J's Coffin

Chris and Brandy limped in middle position and Tim (pictured) raised to 1,200 total from the hijack. Chris called while Brandy folded. The flop came Kc-Jd-2c and both players checked. The turn was the Kh and Chris checked again. Tim bet 1.2K and Chris quickly called. When a third king fell on the river Chris moved all-in for his last 3.6K and Tim called.

"You're good," Chris said.

Tim turned up pocket fours to Chris' Ac4c and he was indeed good. Chris was eliminated in 10th place.

Final Table Time

Scotty's pocket sixes were no match for Shipwreck's aces and Scotty hath been beamed up to a better place.

Final table time.

Jason Out

Jason (pictured) has been eliminated. One more player and we have our final table.

Chris J Feels the Breeze, Makes Good Fold

Chris raised to 1,200 under the gun and Patrick "Shipwreck" K quickly reraised to 2,500 behind him. It folded back around to Chris, who turned to me and said, "I think we have another cooler."

He sat and thought for a good two minutes before folding his A-K face up, leaving himself with only 4.8K in chips. Patrick decided to compliment his fold by showing he laid his hand down to Shipwreck's pocket aces.

Chad Gets Baconated

I missed the details but on a K-10-6-X-6 looking board Chad moved all-in on the river and Kevin "The Baconator" R. (pictured) called with K-10, which beat Chad's Q-10. The details are fuzzy though, so don't take my word for it.

Break Over, Blinds Up

200/400.

Let the cocktail weiner-induced food coma begin!

The Baconator Has a Reputation to Uphold

I forgot to mention earlier that the Baconator is our hero. He graciously brought delicious smoked meats to the game tonight!

See??!!

Meatballs wrapped in bacon!!

Tiny cocktail weiners drenched
BBQ sauce!

"On the Bright Side, You Did Make the Blog"

Tim limped from under the gun and Chris J (pictured) limped on the button. Patrick "Shipwreck" K completed the small blind and Brandy checked her option. The flop came out 10c-9c-8d and it checked to Chris J, who made a pot sized bet of 1,200. The blinds folded and Tim called. The turn was the 5d and Tim checked again. Chris moved all-in and Tim quickly called.

We had a cooler situation on our hands with both players flopping a straight. Chris had Jh7h while Tim held QsJs. The 5s on the river changed nothing and Tim doubled through Chris, leaving Chris with around 6.5K.

Monday, Monday

Maybe it is me, but not much is happening. People are still inexplicably open limping, there is virtually no reraising, and no one is going out.

This may take a while.

Sam Out

Sam (pictured) has been eliminated. Sigh.

Scotty Doubles Again

A couple of players limped and Scotty moved all-in from the big blind for 1,100 more. Chad obliged with a call, but his A-9 was behind Scotty's A-J. The board came out 10d-8s-6h-10c-inconsequential river and Scotty doubled up once again.

B is for Boring

I just sat at the blue table a while trying to catch a worthwhile hand.

"We play friendly poker over here," Patrick "Shipwreck" K (pictured) explained.

"If by friendly, you mean boring, I would be inclined to agree," I responded.

Blinds Up!

150/300

Oh.

Blinds have been 100/200 for a while. We are down to 13 players.

Chet Has to Jet

I didn't get a chance to catch the hand he was eliminated on, but I have to share what I overheard Chet (pictured) yell out from the other table earlier:

"Will everybody please stop playing with me?"

Looks like Mrs. Chet better watch out. Good thing he is on his way home, hopefully to create more baked goods

Rachel + Chad = BFF

Rachel (pictured) was moved to the red table after the tragic demise of Tootie and yours truly and she had Chad have quickly developed what could be called an advesarial relationship. Every time one of them bets or folds, the other incredulously questions their behavior.

"Call?"
"Raise?"
"800?"

This isn't going to get old any time soon = )

Laurie Out, But She'll Always Be In Our Hearts (awwwwwwwwwwwwwww)

Laurie's pocket tens couldn't outdraw Joe D's pocket jacks in an all-in preflop confrontation and she has been eliminated. Tristan was out shortly after her.

Brandy Doubles Up...Obv

Brandy (pictured), the girl who can cling to a short stack like Saran Wrap to a sandwich, moved all-in for 675 total and Tristan called in the big blind. Tristan was ahead for the moment with his Ad-9d as Brandy held Jd10s. The board kept Tristan in the lead as it came 6d-6c-4h-Kh, but we were not surprised when the Jc fell on the river to give her the pot and double her up.

Laurie Hangs On

Scotty raised to 500 and it folded around to Laurie (pictured), who moved all-in for 1,375 total. Scotty called with his pocket eights, which were trailing Laurie's kings.

The flop was Jd-8s-5h and we were all concerned this might be the end for Laurie. However, a king on the turn surged her back into the lead. The ace on the river sealed the deal and she doubled up to around the size of the starting stack.

I, for one, am glad to see Laurie stick around as we are bidding her farewell tonight as she heads back to the Garden State, home of sewage treatment plants and Bruce Springstein. You will be missed!!

Blinds Up!

Mad Man Walking

Kevin "Mad Man" M (pictured) is out.

Mass Carnage at the Red Table; Blogger Maimed

Tootie raised to 300 and I moved all-in right behind him for 1,500 total. Chad (pictured) called and it folded around to Tootie who moved all-in over the top. Chad called that as well, which made a lot of sense when he flipped up pocket aces. Tootie held pocket eights and your humble blogger was way, wayyyyyy behind with pocket sevens. The aces held and Chad now has a whole heap of chips to call massive raises with while Toots and I have to vamanos. That takes us down to 17 players.

Baconator v. Tootie

Kevin R raised to 400 in early position and Tootie was his only caller. The two players checked every street as the board ran out 9c-8h-7d-Ad-10h. After Tootie checked behind on the river he quickly flipped over his hand:

"Pocket sixes, straight."

"Pocket kings, dick," Kevin retorted. The Baconator is a snarky one!

You're Welcome Tootie

On an A-K-3-4 board Tootie and I got it all-in with me holding A-4 to his 2-5. Because I whiff everything (and have a tendency to get it in bad here on Mondays) I did not boat and Tootie doubled up and I am left 1,500 chips.

Straight From the Horse's Mouth

I missed Keith's elimination, but he kindly recapped it for me:

"I had KQ, 500 people called, I missed."

Scotty Doubles Up

Keith and Scotty (pictured) got it all-in preflop with Scott holding pocket jacks to Keith's pocket threes. The jacks held and now Keith has a indiscernable amount of chips left, or, what some call 7 big blinds.

Blinds Up!

25/50

Well, I Guess It Wasn't an Overbet

A couple of players limped and Keith (pictured) raised to 375.

Yeah, 375. You know, 15 times the big blind. Several players remarked what a ridiculous overbet it was and this here blogger's reaction was as follows:

"Christ on a cracker Keith!"

"It's not an overbet," Keith claimed. Well, he appeared to be right as Kevin "The Baconator" R called behind him as did Chad, who had previously limped into the pot but suddenly decided his hand was worth an extra 350 chips.

The flop came As-9c-5h and it checked around to Chad, who bet 400. Keith called and Kevin folded. Both players checked the 3s on the turn. Keith checked again after the 5d fell on the river, but Chad insisted on betting 600. Keith thought for a minute before calling out of what seemed to be curiosity and Chad showed Ah-8h. Keith mucked his 375 chip worthy hand.

Jay's Blue

We have managed to lose our first player 7 minutes into play. With around 1,100 chips in the pot Tristan bet 800 from the small blind after the flop came 10d-6c-6h. Jay quickly moved all-in from the big blind and Tim decided that sounded like a grand idea and moved all-in over the top of him. Tristan, realizing he probably should have saved himself 800 chips folded and it was time for a showdown:

Jay held Jc-10s while Tim had Ac6d for trip sixes. The turn and river came Qs then 5c and Tim raked the pot while Jay headed for the door.

We at the red table will miss Jay, but we were happy to hear about the early elimination as we can now send a player over to the blue table and not be essentially sitting in each other's laps at an 11-handed table.

A Family Affair

The first hand over here had everyone but Laurie seeing a flop despite a raise from middle position from Chad (it should be known our table is playing 11-handed so that was 10 peeps seeing a flop).

The flop was Kh-8c-5d and it checked to Chad who bet 200 into 1,500. Both Joe D and Keith check-called the bet while everyone else folded. The turn was the 2d and it checked to Chad who upped his bet to 600. Joe and Keith gave up and folded and Chad proudly showed 3d-9c....

Yeah.....

A Friendly Reminder

Just a reminder, blinds start at 25/25 and each level lasts 20 minutes

Are you ready? You're ready...aren't you?

Cards are about to be airbourne here at Tim's house as we gather for Week 4 of the prestigious Monday Night Series (MNS). 21 players come here with hopes of becoming the best player in the Lexington area...for a couple of days. Obviously, prestige and honor are on the line.

Will the Baconator smoke the competition again? Will Rachel reclaim her perch atop the rankings? Stay tuned for all the action...or at least, the red table action since that is where I am starting out tonight.

Let's shuffle up and deal!!!
